The Tuesday Night Lecture Series is hosted by the MFA Painting and Sculpture programs here at SVA. Each year, a group of young and contemporary artists is invited to lecture about their practice. Our MFA graphic design program has the opportunity to collaborate with this lecture series and design an artist lecture poster. It is an opportunity to learn about the artist and see how the poster can come in conversation with the work.

Jibade-Khalil Huffman is an artist working fluidly across poetry, video, photography, and installation. His video and photo works use found, archival material, and contemporary ephemera to address slippage in memory and language, particularly to race and visibility. Lyrical strophes of text and densely-composed imagery produce objects of perpetual flux, indexed by accumulating layers that normative symbolic and semiotic hierarchies. Through projection and repetition, Huffman’s work evokes the untranslatable, ruminating on the liminal qualities of singular experiences through narrative and visual rhythms.
